The property in East Boston was operating with a legacy intercom system that had become both outdated and inefficient for modern-day use. The existing setup consisted of an analog directory-style intercom with physical buttons and a separate keypad entry system. Over time, the hardware had worn down, making it difficult for visitors to navigate and for tenants to rely on consistently. The system lacked any form of video capability, meaning residents had no way to visually verify who was requesting access.
Kelo Tech was brought in to fully modernize the building’s entry system. The project involved removing the outdated intercom hardware, upgrading wiring where needed, and installing a new smart video intercom system.
The upgraded system now features a modern ButterflyMX video intercom installed at the building’s main entrance, providing tenants with a fully digital and connected experience. The sleek touchscreen interface allows visitors to easily locate residents, while built-in video functionality enables tenants to visually confirm guests before granting access. Through the mobile app, residents can unlock the door remotely from anywhere, significantly improving convenience and security.
Inside the building, the system was fully configured and activated, ensuring seamless communication between the intercom and tenant devices. The addition of cloud-based access control allows for secure entry via smartphones or fobs, eliminating the need for traditional keys or outdated keypads. Property management now has the ability to monitor access activity, manage user permissions, and make updates in real time without needing to be on-site
